Hebden Bridge based choreographer and designer, Theo Clinkard, is currently planning 'The Century Project'; a new work for his company due to premiere in 100 years time. Leah Marojević is a dance artist with whom he regularly collaborates with and who performs with his company among her other projects.
This workshop is for movers of all kinds and is programmed alongside their initial research period for the new work which kicks off at Wainsgate the following week.
Each day will begin with an extended morning class, where Theo and Leah will be inviting people to bring attention to their perceptive experience of the space, of the other dancers and of their own moving body, to find greater lucidity in action and a sense of connection within the group. This will be followed by led movement patterns, phrase work and group improvisations that encourage articulate and expansive dancing.
Following class, they will introduce participants to the thinking behind 'The Century Project', before offering a chance to embody and discuss the themes, methods and approaches they will be undertaking as they dive into this new process. Expect to create, notate and teach dances, write manifestos, draw, dream, chat and consider what it might mean to pass on a piece of work over an entire century.
Theo and Leah will be cultivating a generous and inclusive safe space for all those that attend.

This ambitious project spans a century; curating the space and methodology to sustain and pass on one hundred years of dance practice, to culminate in a premiere performance beyond our lifetimes, in 2120. Created in 2020 for Theo's company, this work will be relayed to a new group of performers every 5 years, celebrating how dancers practice; assimilate, hold, recall and pass on embodied knowledge.
